In two sentences or less, tell us about your accelerator and its objectives?

The Cincinnati Music Accelerator (CMA) serves as an accelerator program for musicians, recording artists, DJ’s, and producers, helping them to develop their unique craft, while simultaneously educating them on how to monetize their talent and create a future with it. Our objective is to help monetize our indie music creatives and work to put an end to starving artists.

Why is your accelerator program unique? Please describe the benefits of participation in your program.

What makes our program so unique is that rather than teaching and focusing on the creative side of the art, which is born in many us of naturally, we focus on the structure of the business of the art. We also connect the students with mentors in various areas of the business.

What is the most difficult part of working with startups?

The most difficult part about working with musicians is getting them to realize they have to operate as a business, rather than an individual, in order to get to that next level of their careers.

What do you enjoy the most; what do you find most appealing about working with entrepreneurial startups?

The most appealing thing for us is that once musicians find the true core of their passion, they become driven in a way that is almost unexplainable.

Tell us about your success stories; which are the most interesting companies to have participated in your program?

We are still fairly new, so we are still working to build our success stories.

What are the three most important factors startup entrepreneurs should consider when contemplating attending an accelerator?

  1. How badly do I want this?
  2. Can I really make living and or support my family with my business idea?
  3. Will this really get me to the next stage as an entrepreneur?
