Tell us a little about yourself with a focus on what motivates you?
Doug Clayton is very passionate about the things he loves and tries to bring them into his day-to-day life as much as he can. Directing films is one of these passions and that has translated into thinking creatively of the business strategies developed for Instanteaser. The thought that they are creating a product which is extremely relevant to the public market and can impact it in a positive way to a great part of the world population is definitely a huge motivator!
Instanteaser is doing more than bringing a disruptive product to the market. They are helping to create a love brand, which can be recognized around the world as a reference to quality, good customer service and the delivery of results.
When did you establish your company and where did the idea originate?
Instanteaser was established in July 2016, when brands started to use videos in their digital strategies, but with an analogical approach that did not generate the best results. They studied production and distribution workflows thoroughly to develop our solution once the problem had become clear. They felt they could deliver a different service than the traditional mindset because they had experience in high scale productions using technology tools and project management.

What was the biggest challenge you faced while getting your company up and running, and how did you overcome it?
When starting the company, the market did not understand the real value of Instanteaser service yet. That has totally changed now since the brands have identified the importance of videos in the digital environment.
Are there resources you have utilized that other founders might find compelling or useful?
Doug says, “More important than the resources is the mindset. If you set yourself a goal and work hard for it, you will find the resources you need. We held back when we signed our first big contract in order to develop technology which would allow us to scale faster. After a succession of failures, we took it upon ourselves to do it our way. We paid off the technical team and managed to develop a similar system integrating open source and SaaS tools at a much lower cost.”
What steps have you taken to secure funding for your company and what, if anything, would you do differently if you had to start over?
They have been bootstrapping since the beginning.
Have there been any questions you have had as an entrepreneur of a fledgling startup that you had a particularly hard time finding the answers to?
Doug states, “Every single day! A startup by definition should have a disruptive business model. If you are not faced by questions without obvious answers on a regular basis, you are probably just doing something which has been done before.”
What challenges, if any, are you grappling with?
Instanteaser is now grappling with immediate decisions for long-term goals. They are now being faced with a series of opportunities which will have a deep impact on the future of their company. A wrong move might mean they will not reach their ultimate goals.
What is the most helpful tip or “hack” you’ve ever learned, stumbled across, or been given?
Firstly, they figured out triggers of some tools that allowed them to almost create a system with few resources. Secondly, they developed outbound market strategies, which have been helping them acquire more customers.
Doug says, “To act! The “fail fast” mantra has made startups seek failure as if that was a positive thing. In reality, what we take from that is that you must always act fast.”
Is there anything else you would like to share about your company?
