Tell us a little about yourself with a focus on what motivates you?

I was a software developer by trade and worked in the industry for 2 1/2 years. I am very much an activator, so it is not uncommon for me to be up until 5 A.M. working on a new feature when I get very excited about it.

RescoperWhen did you establish your company and where did the idea originate?

My development team at a prior job missed the deadline for a 5-month project by 7 months. I realized project management software was becoming more of a burden than beneficial. All of the existing solutions were essentially a mirror showing you the exact data you typed. Rescoper uses artificial intelligence to ensure your entire team knows what is next, stays on track, and stops getting overwhelmed. Teams can spend less time managing projects and more time working on them.

5 Steps from Concept to Startup

What need or needs does your company seek to fill for its customers?

Rescoper helps teams who need better project management. We remove all of the tedious work involved to achieve those results.

What is the one thing that sets your company apart from its competitors?

Rather than just being another mirror, Rescoper is the only project software with artificial intelligence that makes your team more productive. Rescoper brings context to your work and serves as an assistant to ensure everything flows smoothly.

What was the biggest challenge you faced while getting your company up and running, and how did you overcome it?

Starting the company as a one-man show was a big struggle. Once our team started building, everything started falling together much more quickly.

UpTechWhat steps have you taken to secure funding for your company and what, if anything, would you do differently if you had to start over?

We used Friends & Family, which allowed me to work full-time on Rescoper and get it self-sufficient. After that, we raised $50,000 with our entry into the UpTech Accelerator program. In hindsight, I would have taken the leap of faith to go full-time sooner.

What challenges, if any, are you grappling with?

We have been working tirelessly to improve our new user introduction process so that users can automatically begin with Rescoper within the first few minutes.

What is the most helpful tip or “hack” you’ve ever learned, stumbled across, or been given?

Using some functionality in the Gmail plugin Rapportive, we have been able to obtain emails of different people and have had quite a few introductions we could not have otherwise.
